On Bended Knee

Do you believe in happily never after? Probably that's how some of us our stories will always end.

Because if love means to love that which is unlovable, then she should be with me right now

The first time I saw her, she had the biggest smile I've ever seen
I was very shy, but I managed to take a glimpse of her, and I must say she looked so fine
She wore a dress with the inscription you are mine
And I immediately made that my pick up line

She wore a ponytail, and her bag dangled from side to side as we took a walk.

We walked under the moonlight holding hands like a kid holding on to a candy bar
She told me things I only saw in movies
She showed me her world through her words
She was brutally honest and fascinating
Her favorite Bible verse is Exodus 14:14
”You know what that says?"
Look it up

I was in a dark place; she became my light
When I couldn't find my way, she became my path
When I almost flat-lined, she resuscitated me
She gave me her, but now she's not here

Her love came with terms and conditions.
And like most terms and conditions, I didn't read but agreed to it.

As hours turned to days; days to weeks, and weeks to months
I didn't follow the manual
Unknowingly I was driving her insane
Rendered her night sleepless with pain
Stabbed her in the back; I became her Cain

Like every story, this came to a sudden end.
But like everything else, we deserve a second chance
I'm on my knees; screaming, please come back to me
This is my humble plea
This poem has one intention
To let you know, I also deserve redemption
I know you can live your life without me
And maybe, yes, I can too, but I don't want to
Let's go back to when you were my Bambi, and I was your Papi.

Are you game?

Let's play a game. I'll ask a question and you will provide the answer.
Who said "If you must look back, do so forgivingly. If you must look forward, do so prayerfully. However, the wisest thing to do is be in the present gratefully"? I'll give you a clue she is a renowned poet and a wonderful woman. Anyways enough of the games but make sure to leave your answer in the comment box. Let's get straight to it. The way little girls are raped, our sons and brothers are allowed to treat the opposite sex like a sport they can play around with. When wrong is the new right and when you are self-centered, egotistical, self-absorbed, and selfish is the new cool. I may have grown in this generation however if I had my way I would choose to be segregated from my own but am stuck here witnessing how the foundation of our morality is shaken to the core and broken into crumbs.
It is not yet over and maybe my voice won't be loud enough or maybe not everyone will get this message but I am bent on changing the mindset of the posterity to come. Edmund Burke, the Irish philosopher, and politician, penned these words: “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing"  and to add to this, is a lyric from the king of pop music Michael Joseph Jackson's song man in the mirror which says " I'm starting with the man in the mirror, I'm asking him to change his ways

And no message could have been any clearer If you wanna make the world a better place, Take a look at yourself and then make a change". To change the world and make it better, we need to realize that the place to start is with ourselves: We have to put our own house in order first. It’s all can do; it starts with the individual, starts with you and me. The fragrance of love I will give away will always emanate from my core which will always stimulate minds and hearts on how to treat and honor people. My kids will see how I'll honor their grandparents, my daughters will know how a lady is supposed to be treated, so they don't settle for anything less because they will see how I treat their mother every day and my boys will know women are not sports to be played or toyed around with. They are not weak and should not be looked down on but there is so much power within them when harnessed brings harmony, peace, nurture, and love to a home. That a lady is supposed to be loved and respected. So my brothers let's change the game and sisters do the same. Let's do this for our sons and daughters.
